The earth took me
in her embrace
...happily enough
but wondering
at the concrete
between us
Wondering..
if I was an earthworm
or a grasshopper
gone astray..
living under-the-earth
day-in-day-out
clicking away at
an electronic monstrosity
like a living zombie
in a concrete mold
She asked me
who I was
A Bee?
I grinned at her
You are not Being
She read between
the lines..
A pale, sallow bee
that had lost
all sense of flight?
Bee..??
She looked at me
quizzically
It came like a
forgotten flash of lightening
The mocking in her question
enthused a strange thought
into my numb bee-brain
Thoughts of a warm glowing sun..
Thoughts of my forgotten being..
I staggered when I tried to fly..
But she took me in her mother-palm
and put me down gently
where I belonged..
